At retail pharmacies, you can purchase over-the-counter medicines in addition to the medication your provider prescribes. Specialty pharmacies are different – we dispense medications to treat complex, acute, and chronic illnesses such as Crohn’s disease, ulcerative colitis, Clostridium difficile infection, I.B.S. + D, and pancreatic insufficiency. As a patient of Kroger Specialty Pharmacy, you will receive individualized support throughout your treatment. Our highly qualified clinical and patient care teams specialize in gastroenterology care. Their unique skills and experience allow them to effectively communicate with insurance and healthcare providers while working through any clinical challenges. Our clinical team of pharmacists and nurses is also available to aid in managing your specialty medication(s) and overall health. Our advocacy team is readily accessible to assist with enrollment in available copay assistance programs.

A patient’s accumulators are their deductible and out of pockets maximums. Kroger Specialty Pharmacy calls the insurance for a benefits investigation to determine if the copay card/drug coupon process will apply towards their deductible or out-of-pocket maximum. If it does not, the patient will be contacted to explain their benefits and offer options available in their situation. The patient would then direct Kroger Specialty Pharmacy as to how they would like to move forward with their prescription.
Kroger Specialty Pharmacy will assist in enrolling in any copay programs that are available. Many of the biologic therapies offer copay card programs to those with private/commercial insurance. Most drug manufacturers also offer programs to help patients who are uninsured or underinsured. Additionally, we work with third-party Foundations that assist with copays for eligible patients.
Yes, we are experts in navigating multiple insurances and utilizing them appropriately to get the most coverage possible for our patients.
Your medications will never be automatically shipped out. You will be contacted prior to each shipment. Our Patient Care Coordinators keep track of your refills and contact you 7-10 days before your refill date. You do not need to keep track of refill dates. However, the timing depends on when we receive the prescription(s) and when you last filled each medication.
It is standard that we ship a one month’s supply with each delivery. If you will require a 90-day supply, we can work with your provider and insurance to make those one-time arrangements.
Your Patient Care Coordinator will discuss your preferred address with you for each refill. Depending on your insurance plan, we will work towards a resolution for your shipping needs.
